Timber Frame Boat Shop

Salmon Arm, British Columbia

This traditional timber frame shop was constructed by Shuswap Boat Builders to serve as the assembly site for a new 40-foot wooden sailboat. Using techniques that date back millennia, the shed was designed and detailed with oak dowels at the connections in order to minimize the need for steel fasteners. As seasoned boat builders, the client emphasized quality craftsmanship and close attention to detail, and these values were held paramount throughout all phases of the project. By working closely with the client/builder throughout the design and construction phases, we were able to produce a timber frame design that provides a warm and welcoming space while meeting all of the boat building requirements of the Shuswap Boat Builders team.
